Paul Haslinger

After studying at the Vienna Academy of Music and working as a session player, in 1985 Paul Haslinger joined the komische music legends Tangerine Dream. During his 5 years with the band, he recorded a total of 15 albums, participated in 4 international tours, and collaborated on a number of soundtracks including Miracle Mile, Near Dark, Shy People and the documentary about the Grand Canyon, Canyon Dreams. The soundtrack for the latter earned Haslinger his first Grammy nomination in 1991. Since that year he has been based in LA, pursuing a career as a highly successful composer for film and television and video games. Film scores include those for Underworld: AwakeningThe Three Musketeers and Resident Evil. His most recent TV credits include Somewhere Boy (Channel 4) and The Irregulars (Netflix).

As a solo artist Paul has released two albums on the Fire Records label: Exit Ghost I and Exit Ghost II. With fellow ex-Tangerine Dream member Peter Baumann, he has also released an album under the name Neuland.

“In turn, the listener is taken on a more intimate journey. Piano improvisation is at the core of Exit Ghost, but the songs do not meander; they are beautifully and carefully constructed, with enticing melodies cascading in and out of subtle yet enveloping atmospherics.”
Pop Matters

“As a collection of music, it is unsettling, demanding, rewarding and cathartic. As a story told in music the album is absolutely fascinating. I think we have our first contender for classical album of the year.”
