Olivia Belli

Olivia Belli is a modern classical pianist and composer based in Italy’s Marche region. Her music, inspired by nature, art, and spirituality, has reached audiences worldwide with millions of streams and regular features on BBC Radio 3, Classic FM, BBC 6 Music, KEXP, and Radio France. She has performed at venues including the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room, Hyde Park/ Andrea Bocelli BST, TivoliVredenburg Utrecht, Milano Music Week, Silent Green Kulturquartier Berlin, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Schloss Elamu.

In 2023, Olivia was commissioned by the BBC Proms to compose ‘Limina Luminis’ for organist Anna Lapwood, premiered to critical acclaim and broadcast live on BBC Radio 3. She also released the EP Sonus Noctis and appeared at the Montréal International Jazz Festival and Ottawa’s Music and Beyond Festival. She has also composed for distinguished soloists, including violinist Mari Samuelsen (for her album Life released by Deutsche Grammophon) and cellist Gautier Capuçon (for his album Gaia released by Warner Classics)

Exclusively signed to the Sony Classical label, she has built a distinctive discography. Somnio Novo (2022) explores the nocturnal world of dreams, revisiting themes from Sol Novo (2021), which was featured on Scala Radio, Soho Radio, and Classic FM, and included in Apple Music’s Classical Live. Previous releases include River Path (2020, 1631 Recordings/Decca Records), Where Night Never Comes (2018), and Mater (2020), an ecologically inspired ensemble album created with her husband Enrico Belli for the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, with proceeds donated to the Global Wildlife Conservation charity.

Olivia was the first female composer invited by Apple Music to curate its ‘Piano Chill’ playlist and has been featured on the cover of Spotify’s EQUAL: Classical playlist, which highlights female composers shaping today’s classical scene. She is also a member of the Recording Academy.

As a conservatory-trained pianist, she studied with Lazar Berman and Jörg Demus before embarking on an international career as a performer. Early recordings of works by Philip Glass and Max Richter earned her critical praise and set the stage for her evolution into one of the most distinctive voices in modern classical music today.

For the 2023-2024 season, Olivia released Intermundia, written for piano and string trio in collaboration with leading members of the Max Richter Ensemble—Louisa Fuller, John Metcalfe, and Chris Worsey. Looking ahead, her Sony Classical debut Daimon (out February 20, 2026) expands her style with the richness of a string orchestra and diverse soloists.

“Warm and remarkably dynamic in sound, creative and surprising in compositional approach and diverse and colourful in terms of the arrangements.” - Fifteen Questions

“Whatever anxieties keep us awake, whatever terrors strike in the night will seem different in the glow of a new sunrise. By personifying the sun on ‘Sol Novo’, Belli sends currents of light through fingers of rain.” - A Closer Listen
