Ishmael Ensemble Signs to Faber Alt.
We’re excited to announce the signing of British musical collective, Ishmael Ensemble.
Helmed by producer and saxophonist Pete Cunningham, Ishmael Ensemble's music effortlessly straddles the worlds of electronica and jazz.
They rose to acclaim with their debut album A State Of Flow (2019). Imbuing lush, cinematic compositions with left-field dub and electronic sensibilities, it was named The Guardian's 'Contemporary Album Of The Month' and MOJO's 'Jazz Album Of The Month'.
Their last album, Rituals, was also praised by the likes of Lauren Laverne, Tom Ravenscroft and Gilles Peterson and was playlisted at 6 Music, reaching #2 in the Official Dance Album charts & #33 in the Official Album Sales charts.
2026 saw the formation of Ishmael Ensemble & The Rituals Orchestra, an expanded live show including a string quartet, harpist & guest vocalists from across the group's catalogue.
Now, with a new album on the way and their 10-year anniversary on the horizon, Ishmael Ensemble continues to be a significant force in the UK Jazz scene, capable of captivating audiences wherever the setting.
“I'm delighted to be joining such an amazing group of writers and artists at Faber Alt. The Faber brand speaks for itself in the world of publishing and comes at an exciting time for me with both my Ishmael Ensemble project and as a composer for TV & Film. I can't wait to step into this new partnership with lots of new and exciting projects on the horizon.”

“Ishmael Ensemble is an incredible outfit, and working with Pete feels like a great fit for both sides. Faber Alt. had previously talked about signing Ishmael Ensemble - so this feels like a brilliant full-circle moment. Pete’s new album is amazing, and everyone should hear it!”
