Currer Bell Signs to Faber Alt.

We are overjoyed to announce we have signed the talented alt-folk duo, Currer Bell to the Faber Alt. roster.

Currer Bell is an alt-folk duo comprising sisters Faron and Merle. They used to compose songs about kettles and unicorns as kids. These days they write about things like global warming and shipwrecks, setting powerful stories to music untethered by genre. Self-taught musicians, piano, guitar, harmonium and violin form the core of their sound, along with signature sister harmonies.

Currer Bell’s music is influenced by the folk tradition, and their lyrics are often inspired by the literature they love. The songs are a ragtag band of stories about catastrophes, personal, public and planetary. Inspired by classic writing and myth, they wanted to spin these timeless yarns to address modern issues.

Most recently, they have been featured multiple times on BBC Music Introducing In The South West, on both Sarah Gosling and Ally Reeve’s shows.
Sarah Gosling commented on Currer Bell’s music, “The sounds they make seem to just sit inside the sternum somewhere when you listen to them.”

We look forward to working with them going forward and are excited to see what new opportunities this collaboration brings.

“Currer Bell are enchanting, they carry the listener to other-worldly spaces with songs that beautifully evoke place, feeling and the times we live in. This duo are definitely ones to watch and we are so excited about the potential of what’s to come.”

Lucy Holliday, Head of A&R

“I’ve known the wonderful team at Faber Alt for a few years now.  Their sensitivity and creative thinking has been so sympathic to each project we’ve worked together.  There’s a beautiful affinity between them and the magical and literary infused talent of the magical Currer Bell. I’m incredibly excited to see what we can create together.”
